Choosing Where to Cycle
The first decision you will need to make is wether you want to cycle on or off-road, i.e. with, or without traffic...
For children, adults returing to cycling, or people exercising their dogs, we would recommend you try a traffic-free cycling route. There are plenty to choose from in a variety of settings. Click here to find YOUR IDEAL PLACE TO CYCLE
If youre cycling to the shops or to work its unlikely there will always be a totally traffic-free option for you to take. If this is the case find out if there is a cycling map or guide for your local area and make sure you know the Highway Code. It can also be really useful to go out with a friend until you build enough confidence up to cycle the roads on your own.
You can plan your route using the National Cycle Networks interactive map.
