Environmental Benefits
Cycling produces no pollution... its that simple!
You can make a direct contribution to the local and global envirnment by changing your travel habits. By switching your car journeys to cycling, evev partially, you are reducing the CO2 emissions that are so harmful to our atmosphere.
You are also helping to reduce noise pollution, traffic congestion, and the need for new traffic lanes and roads.
A Sustrans report published in 2005 stated that "cycling and walking is contributing to a reduction in climate-changing CO2 emissions. In 2004 just over 50 million trips on the National Cycle Network replaced a car trip and many of those were commuter journeys to work. This means that cycle routes are providing practical alternatives to cars at some of the most congested times of the day. And they are helping people without cars to get around, in 2004 38 million trips were made by people who didnt have access to a car." Click here to view the full press release
